Music is the soundtrack to Life.
About Me
Welcome to Piano Philosophies!
My name is Lauren. I began playing piano at the age of 4, and since then, I have grown an immense and profound love for music. I always laugh when I think of my eagerness as a child to play—my loved ones inviting me into stories of me coming home from school, dance class, or any other endeavour, and immediately running straight to the piano … my absolute joy.
I have been trained classically through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and have completed extensive examinations in both Practical and Theory (1-10). I love jazz, gospel, r&b, popular music, and especially enjoy sight-reading and playing music by ear. I attended an Arts Secondary School as a French Horn Music Major in Toronto, where I further exposed my love for music and all its various genres. In 2017, I humbly accepted my first teaching position in Toronto, Canada before venturing off to post-secondary, where I obtained my degree in Philosophy at Carleton University. Currently, I act as a permanent in-person teacher to several students ages 4 to 71 in Ottawa, Canada.
As an aspiring lawyer, I thoroughly enjoyed my studies within Philosophy, and aim to take the life-lessons and knowledge I obtained through this degree as I pursue my JD, and as I navigate this world.
I am thrilled to welcome you to the beauty and joy of piano and music through my love of teaching!
